This week’s Invisible Movies is one my my favorites. Released in 1981, this classic action film gave way to two sequels, a TV series, video games, action figures and even amusement park thrill rides. If I told you the name of the superstar who played the rol of the lead character, I’d give it away. But he wasn’t the only one to play the part. Our hero has also been played by River Phoenix, Corey Carrier, Sean Patrick Flanery, and George Hall.

About the photo: Felicia, our future daughter-in-law, made these chocolate covered strawberries for our niece, Brittany’s, 21st birthday. She took the pre-party photo on her I-Phone. The strawberries tasted as good as they look.

Usually our Invisible Movies are at least several years old. But this week’s film was released just last Christmas. This movie is a World War II historical drama that caused a stir in Germany. Not only for its portrayal of the protagonist, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, but also because of the lead actor’s belief in Scientology.

Here’s my latest Great Openings podcast. It’s mid-August and the kids are back in school, so we have a theme. All of our songs have something in common. Can you identify his number one hits after hearing only the opening notes? The songs and clues are from our live Music and Entertainment Trivia shows. And as always I pass along some trivia about each of our featured classics; nuggets of information about how they came to be written or recorded, about the artist or something unusual that you’re sure to find interesting.

The big clock in the background is the big clue in this week’s Invisible Movie screenshot. In fact the timepiece is central to the plot of the 1985 science fiction adventure film because of the lightening bolt that struck it at exactly 10:04 pm on Saturday, November 12, 1955.
