dictionary

It’s getting close to the end of the year, so here cme the annual lists.

This one is from the folks at the Merriam-Webster dictionary. They selected their top words of the year not by how trendy or new they are, but by which words are the most looked up in their online dictionary. The word people look up more than any other in 2009 was “admonish,” which had to do with Rep. Joe Wilson’s interruption of president Obama’s speech to a joint session of Congress in September. In fact, this year, nine of the top ten words are easily linked to big news stories. Here are a few of the others…

- emaciated - from reports of Michael Jackson’s condition at the time of his death
- furlough - from the unpaid furloughs that many employers gave to workers to weather the recession
- pandemic - from news that swine flu had reached pandemic proportions

    eyballinggame

This is a game, but then again it isn’t.

To play, see how close you can come to eyeballing the correct placement of select geometric figures. For example, how close can you come to pinpoint the exact center of a circle. It’s simple but challenging.
