This week’s Invisible Movie is a 1984 rock musical about a fictional heavy metal band. It’s sometimes referred to as a “mocumentary,” which means it’s fictional but has the style of a documentary. It was directed by a fictional director who was played by the film’s real director who once played Meathead on All in the Family.

This week’s Invisible Movie was a somewhat controversial 2005 romantic-drama film directed by Ang Lee. It was based in a short story by Annie Proulx that was originally published in The New Yorker magazine.

Despite criticism from conservative pundits and groups, it won four Golden Globe Awards and was widely considered to be a front runner for the Academy Award for Best Picture, but lost to Crash.
